Theme: Dealing with cultural differences and challenges of collaborating with Brazilians during the roll-out phase of a vaccine.
During the final phase of the dengue virus vaccine development program, Sanofi asked Birdwell to provide a speaker for an audience of more than 200 persons made up of doctors, biologists, quality control experts, and supply chain specialists coming from Sanofi laboratories and production sites. The organizers of the event wanted a speaker who had experience in the healthcare or life sciences industry and who was Brazilian or French person who had lived and worked for an extended period in the life science sector in Brazil. The theme of the intervention was dealing with cultural differences and challenges of collaborating with Brazilians during the roll-out phase of the vaccine.
The conference speaker
Birdwell provided a Brazilian speaker who had lived and worked in Brazil, the US, and France in the life sciences industry for 17 years. Her intervention was programmed the morning of the last day of the 4 day conference. Her intervention lasted for almost 2 hours. She was able to highlight not only the cultural differences and friction points but also give tips and tools for improving their relationships and leveraging cultural differences in order to get work done faster and in better conditions.
The intervention was a great success.
The expert was later called in to train 2 Franco-Brazilian project teams dedicated to the roll-out phase of the vaccine in Brazil.
